How do you keep meetups safe?
Newcomers and Citymates are identity-verified, and every in-person meetup begins with a video call. Full safety guidance is included in training.
Is this a full-time job?
No. Citymates are independent contractors who choose their availability and may pause at any time. There are no minimum hours.
How do taxes work?
This is 1099 contractor income, so you are responsible for tracking and paying applicable taxes. We recommend consulting a tax professional.
Do I pay for the background check?
No. Citymates covers the background check cost for applicants who advance to that stage.
Can I stop being a Citymate?
Yes. You can pause or leave whenever you need to. We only ask that you complete any bookings you have already accepted.
